Dessert Hope

Dessert Rose

The dessert rose is a lovely plant. So stunning is its thick trunk, green leaf and star shaped flower most gardeners recommend showcasing this plant rather than tucking it in with the other garden foliage. The dessert rose originated near the Sahara Dessert. This flower loves the heat and is drought resistant.

The human heart is like a lily of the valley, the dessert rose, a garden of splendor. Just like a garden, the human heart needs special care and attention. Not every heart is exactly the same. Some need more water, talking to, touch, sun. While others need quiet, cool and shady space. God provides the organic variety and perfect space for every plant to thrive. He does the same for the heart, mind and soul of humanity...His creation...His Love.

What makes your heart come alive? When life is dry, barren and the terrain like a cracked and patched dessert, drive your roots deeper. Drink of living water. Nobody knows you and what you need like God does. He designed you. He created your DNA and planted it within you. When we seek His voice, His heart, His guidance, he becomes like the roadmap and horticultural blue print to create an atmosphere our heart can hold onto and thrive in, despite what is going on around us or happening to us.

I have been reading a lot lately about abuse. I have been studying the cycles and patterns of abusive relationships (domestic abuse in particular) and the deleterious trauma that affects the heart and mind of its victims. I tell you friends, if you have been a victims of physical or emotional abuse, there is hope for you. Your life can change and your emotions can be healed. Do some homework. Find a counselor. Talk to someone who understands the complexity of this issue. You are not worn and leathery though it may feel it. Let me speak truth over you...

You are a dessert rose, resilient, a star, bursting forth with brilliance so great, you will shine and stand on your own. You will heal. And when your emotional health stands back on its own, you will help others to do the same. There is hope for you and in you. For the Hopeful One created you. ~Nicole
