Honesty

Noah Webster (1758-1843), a Connecticut born man, studied law at Yale and had a passion for teaching. Whenever Webster saw a need for something he sat down and wrote an essay about it. He poured out his heart through his pen. Mr. Webster wrote the "Blue Back Speller" and by it brought a standard of excellence and unity to the English language via vocabulary and pronunciation. Mr. Webster did something else that made him great that seems to have slipped off the plate in the United States of things worthy and esteemed...

Noah Webster petitioned the government and established copyright protection for authors. By this law it is illegal to plagiarize or publish the writing of others without buying it. Intellectual property is property just the same.

My children attend a local private high school where they are required to turn every essay they write into a nationally used website for review. This website is for the prevention and detection of plagiarism. I sometimes wonder what would happen if social media-among other avenues of communication-had such a site to turn in everything we "publish" on our timelines?

Moral Character and Integrity are of the founding attributes that made America Great. Is it too late to reinstate?
