Devotion: A Ram In The Thicket

"Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God."Heb. 13:16

Last night our church had a safe Halloween alternative with games, treats, candy of course and some entertainment. My boys really enjoyed this activity last year and wanted to bring a bunch of kids this year. Luke, my 12 yr. old, invited more kids than my car can hold. A few met us there, a few couldn't go and one boy from his class came home from school with us so he could come. He lives with his grandmother on the far south side of town and when I spoke with her on the phone the night before I assured her I would drive him home after. She then shared how she was recovering from an ailment and had made no plans for the boys evening at all. Her next words blessed my heart deeply...she said, "but God always has a ram in the thicket."

I thought I was blessing my son by agreeing to take a bunch of junior high boys out, but God was up to something bigger that blessed me more than anyone I believe.

Be generous. What may seem like an insignificant act of kindness or giving or encouragement might impact and provide an answer to someone else's prayers. It truly is better to give than to receive. ~Nicole
