Honey

.

Living in the Central Valley of California . .

Is beautiful.

When most think of California (especially when you travel), they think of it as Los Angeles or San Francisco. But the middle of the state is a grand valley full of life and beauty. Central Valley California is agricultural, providing countless variety of fruits, vegetable, nuts and don’t forget the vineyards as we live in the heart of wine country. For years I’ve lived on the Mokulumne River with wineries as my neighbors. Row after row of delicate vines. Beautiful harvest, what a pleasure to live in the Valley.

When you live in the Valley you may experience hay fever. But don’t worry, we’ve got something for that, too! Honey is known in holistic circles for its therapeutic benefits. Alleviating allergies is just one of many powerful things this super food can do. Using local honey from local bees that have pollinated in our local trees. A most effective remedy.

Honey has had other uses throughout history. Travel with me for a moment across the globe to Ireland. An Irish wedding has many traditions and one provides a fun trivia fact you may not already know:

The Month of Honey

“The word for honey is "meala" in Irish. "Mi na meala," the month of honey, refers to the month after the wedding when the newlyweds celebrated by drinking mead, a brew made of fermented honey. Following the wedding, a sufficient amount of mead was given to the bride and groom, along with special goblets, so they could share the unique brew for one full moon after their wedding -- and thus the term honeymoon was coined. It was believed that this delicate yet potent drink was the best way to ensure a good beginning for a new marriage, and it was also believed to endow powers of virility and fertility.” (Work cited, theknot.com)

The Love and Friendship of God can be like honey. The favor of God is like honey that poured over the people, pouring down over the head or crown and covering them. (Psalm 133:2)

Can you imagine for a moment what it would be like to be covered in honey? Honey is thick. Honey is sweet. It’s kind of messy and I imagine if you were covered in honey it would be a challenge to wash it off. It would stick to you pretty good.

So if the Love and Favor of God is like honey then slather me in it.

Sometimes the favor of God will get you in sticky situations. But it still tastes good.

The Favor of God will always add flavor that is succulent and sweet. This for sure tastes good.

The Favor of God covers thick and protects just the same as how natural honey can work as an anti microbial protector, skin replenisher, sore throat soother, blood sugar stabilizer (His Favor keeps us in balance too!) Honey can reduce ulcers and helps your body fight against and prevent cancer and disease. Wow! Honey is amazing! And it still tastes good!

The Lord is with you. His heart is betrothed to you and courtship with Him leads you to a glorious honeymoon of soul. We are His Bride and He is our Groom.

He covers you beginning at the head. Let His Love and Favor flow down over your crown. Let it spill over you and cover you as though it were your only garment. Savor it. Let the Sweet Canopy of Heaven wrap around you. Taste and see the Lord is Good.

Abide in His Love, His Grace, His Favor. I think you’ll grow to find it to be your favorite flavor.

Wherever you go, whatever you do—know beyond any doubt the Favor of God rests with you.

Psalm 119:103

“How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!”
