Studies have been done using fleas. The fleas are placed in a jar and the lid is fastened. The fleas jump & jump & jump, but get no where. After a while they stop jumping. In fact, when the lid is removed, giving the fleas total freedom they still won't jump out. I wonder what would happen if a new flea was introduced to the group? Would the other fleas laugh at him for daring to jump? Would they avoid him because he did things differently than them? I'm sure once he broke through the lid barrier (that wasn't there at all) a few other fleas may dare to jump again too.
