Trustworthy
"Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God." Psalm 20:7
This is one of the first verses I learned when I was first discipled in Christ. It has been a favorite ever since. I've felt it surging in me for days, but didn't know the direction God wanted me to take. So I waited. I waited attentively for His lead. Sometimes God will use our senses, situations, interactions or maybe even things that are said to us to quicken our soul. It causes us to slow down and notice. I have been a Christian a lot of years, but it's really been since I "Surrendered All" that my life came alive with His Fire. Surender is more than getting "saved". Surrender puts God in the driver seat and we allow Him to chart the coarse and we ride along without trying to be a "backseat driver". This is hard, because it requires us to trust His control and forfeit ours. The more controlling your personality type the harder it will be, but it is never impossible. I've never been a person who needs to be in control of others, but I have definitely been one who felt best when I could control my own choices.
I encourage you to explore getting to know God more through deliberate submission to His leadership. Your friendship with God will go to a new level and just as I opened my story, you will become more sensitive to God.
So, do not put your sole trust in yourself, do not place your confidence in others before God. As I thought about what it meant to put whole trust in God I got to thinking about a dream I had. I dreamed I saw a long time family friend. She didn't start out as a friend, she started out as John's training client...a young and talented athlete with big dreams. This young lady grew in fame and became known for her tremendous speed and power despite smaller frame from the other competitors in her sport. She went on to becomes two time Olympian. She and another Olympic athlete John trained saw us go with them to the Olympics. That was a long time ago and to this day both are still friends, but the gal is even more so. In my dream people didn't believe that I actually knew her because they never saw me speaking with her. I was surprised because to me she is just our friend who happens to be a well known athlete in her sport. Even now, I will be vague to protect her privacy. I don't really care if people believe me or not, I know that wasn't the significance of the dream. I know God was showing me something deeper...
if people can't believe in one another enough that they are telling truth when they are...people they can see and discern behavior, mannerism, family and associates. Then how in the world can they ever truly trust in God who they can't see?
"Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God." Psalm 20:7
To trust God more we must first maybe, with Gods help, learn to trust people more. This involved risk...you could be wrong about their ability to guard your heart with you. But what if you're not wrong? What if you have people all around you that God had planted in your life to love on you, help you and protect you but you never reap that reward because you never trusted? Are we placing more trust in our possessions and accomplishments than each other? Are our possessions our source of security?
"Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God." Psalm 20:7
I'm not saying trust everyone right away. I'm saying there is correlation between our depth of trust in God and our willingness to trust each other. Jesus was relational, he wants to bless you with healthy relationships, too!
You can trust Him!
