Get in the boat, so you can get out of the boat!

"Come," he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus."
Matt. 16:20

Jesus walked on water. This was an astounding and terrifying demonstration of his power. Some were repelled by it, while others, like Peter, were compelled by it. He wanted to walk on water too and as long as He kept his eyes on him...he did.

There are three types of people in life. We each may have some experience as each type throughout the coarse of our life, but the goal is to get to such a place of abiding peace in God, we can do anything he compels us to as though we were walking on water.

1. The first type of person is nearly drowning. They aren't even in the boat. Responsibility or circumstances of life have them flailing in the water. They are so overcharged in heart and spread thin physically they cannot even get to the boat without assistance. There are countless examples of what could be trapping them in the water, but one thing is certain... They need a hand to help them up.

2. Person two isn't in the boat either, but they have made it to the side of the boat and all there energy is devoted to just holding on so they don't become like the example of person one. They may have the best heart in the world and intentions, too. But they are not in any position to be able to help anyone. They are in a fight to survive.

3. Person three is in a better place. They are inside the boat securely. They are safe and they know it. In this position you have choices. The ideal choice is you are in the place you are thankfully and are ready to help those who aren't in the boat, get in also. You have both hands free and you choose to use them to give others a hand up compassionately.

4. Then there is person four. (I know, I said there were only three types of people.) Person four is very achievable, but not so easily available as an example. Person four lives in the place of creative miracles. They are so fixed on Christ, it doesn't matter what is going on in their life, they know who he is and they know who they are because of him. They are willing to get out of the boat and try something risky and a bit dare devil if you will. They want to walk as he walked, go where he went and do as he did. Eyes only for Jesus. Anyone can be person four, but few choose it. Person four gives up the safety and security of the boat, the warm sunshine and rest and ease. They are in a quest for greater things and they are willing to get uncomfortable to have it. Person four abides through every trial of life and attempts to walk on water just the same. They took the high road and now they find themselves in the zero gravity zone. Nothing is going to stop them from going deeper in relationship with Jesus.

You can walk on water too. God will use everything you go through, if you let him, to put wisdom, character, integrity and compassion beyond measure within you so you can not only help others get into the boat, but lead them to join you and walk on water too. Gods got you. No matter which person you identify with today, God has a plan in place. Keep your eyes on his face. He will hem you in and captivate you with his love and grace. Your going to win your race. The best is yet to come.

I believe that YOU can walk on water.
