New Covers

There is a sweet victory that accompanies friendship with a Mighty Savior, the king of Kings. He has a way of clearing the smoke or dust cloud the Enemy has made and He settles in. He settles in deep and you can feel the weight of His Presence.

I happen to be one who loves covers. You know, like on your bed or a throw blanket? I like, even in summer, to be able to feel the weight of the blankets on me. I like it a little bit heavy. If I get warm I just expose a foot or a leg and it’s enough to keep me content.

God will always give you something to hold onto.

Just like a child who finds security in the clutch of their blanket, so too, God is like a blanket. He is the covering we should stay under when the trials of life rain and thunder, but also when the skies are blue and everything seems to be going nicely for you. No matter your season, He should always be our reason, our comfort, our hope. The more we remain in Him, abiding in His will, drinking from His Cup, the more like a brand new, soft, thick blanket our covering will be. Could you imagine having a beautiful home and nicely decorated with fine things, but the covers in the beds were a bit ratty looking and worn? This is how we can be when we care for our physical bodies, we care for our possessions, but we don’t care for our heart and mind. We must renew them both every day and follow the Path God embeds for us. We know we can trust, He has  us heavily covered.

He always offers the best of the best because He offers Himself and that’s a Premium Package.

It is by our own will to choose and decide how much Rule we allow the Holy Spirit in our Life. We get to choose the type of covers even when we are covered. Does this make sense? You can have as much or as little of God’s Peace, Presence. Friendship, Joy and Hope as you are willing to accept. But the closer we draw in, the more of our own will and desires it will cost. Redemption is free, but obedience does cost.

Can I encourage you today in this. Though you may travail, God always prevails. Though you may have countless areas of life that have lost hope, He is waiting just around the bend with new hope, new life. New breath, new love, new joy and new Promises. I see it walking in just like a person through the front door. He won’t fail to deliver His Promises, but sometimes He needs to remodel them a bit.

New Covers. . .

Let’s discard old mindsets like we would discard an old matted blanket.

The best really is yet to come.
Goodbye yesterday!
Hello, today!
Today is a day of New Hope it’s True.

Cover yourself in His Tender Mercies, they will always hold you.
