I had an interesting experience yesterday. I made a quick stop in the bank yesterday afternoon. I seemed to have unintentionally timed it just right because there was no line and only maybe two other people with tellers. I was invited right up to a window for my business. As the teller walked away to retrieve something for me I waited there and observed the teller at the window next to me was teaching the woman

“Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.”

Jesus walked on water. This was an astounding and terrifying demonstration of his power. Some were repelled by it, while others, like Peter, were compelled by it. He wanted to walk on water too and as long as He kept his eyes on him…he did.

The apple of the eye is the absolute dead center of the pupil. Wherever the apple rests, it is completely focused and attentive. I have deep admiration for people who can look others dead in the eye when they speak, fully focused, not distracted, not gazing over your shoulder, not shifting their eyes…focused. It’s like a laser point of intention fixed on a mark. You know you have that persons full attention and they are both powerful and passionate about what they are trying to communicate.

You are the Apple of

The Lord is Good and His Tender Mercies endure forever.  Fragrant is the sweet smell of kindness.  Aromatic are the fruit of the Spirit as they leave a trail of essential goodness.

Have you ever walked into a house while a fresh fruit pie was baking in the oven? Heaven, right?  The smell is so delicious, so inviting and brings a sense of comfort and “home” even if it’s not your home. This is how it is with the fruit of the spirit.  As we demonstrate these virtues as character attributes

Training Wheels…

Do you remember when you learned how to ride a bike? I do. My Dad taught me. We lived in Long Beach, Ca. I was 5 I guess. I had some training wheels on my bike. They were a bit off balance so if the bike wasn’t kept in perfect alignment the bike would lean a bit from one side to the other. It became a mental challenge to coordinate the pedal motion and the way my body weight rested to try

Unshakable Faith
