Faith & Fitness Olympics

My husband trains athletes. He is a Strength Coach and he is very good at what he does. He has travelled all over the world with world class athletes, sculpting their potential giving them an edge to compete.
Because of my husband’s profession I have been exposed to great athletes. I’ve watched how they train. They shine. They make everything look effortless and easy. Though they have God given talent and ability not one of these Olympians woke up a Champion. They each walked through the refiner’s fire of desire, discipline, perseverance and belief. Each had to do the work required to get themselves better and refine their gift every single day. The levels of discipline and focus in elite athletes is extraordinary.
And they had great exploits together...

Have you ever been on a really good team? Not just a good team, but a REALLY good team. A decent team might may one or two really good players that carry the rest. But a great team is amply loaded and blessed with players that each shine bright in their own right and know how to work together. Dream team kind of thing.

God is assembling a Dream Team of His own. His team may not look like a world class soccer team, Olympic track and field team or Super Bowl who’s who of MVP’s. No. God’s team looks a lot like you and me. We have come in different shapes, sizes, athletic ability, education and color. But there are a few things this dream has in common. Here’s a short list of essentials:

Loyalty

God’s team must have both loyalty to God and each other.(Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2)

Long Suffering

God’s team is definitely not comprised of quitters. This team knows how to lock arms and persevere, and they do it together.(“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9)

Love

(“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:35)
We are whole heartedly committed to bearing up under a Banner of Love. It doesn’t matter how difficult the task, how large the risks, how tedious the trials—

God’s team is stealthy, wealthy and proud.

Not stealthy like in hiding behind personal baggage the way Saul did. But stealthy like we know our assignment and we stay anchored to the right things.

Not wealthy as in riches of the earth, though this can be true, true wealth has more to do with fruit of spirit, wisdom, unity, and faith that God has zero resource issues. He gets us what we need when we need it so we don’t stop moving forward because we can’t see how He will do something. We walk by faith not sight and this is a wealth that brings Peace and Contentment despite circumstances.

Finally, not proud as in arrogant, haughty or self important. The kind of pride I speak of is the absolute knowing our Identity and who we are and to whom we belong and a resolute belief that we are heirs to the King and nothing is going to break our stride because when God is with us, nothing can stand against us! Pride that yields pure confidence drawn from the wells of Heaven.

So square your shoulders today. You’ve been heaven made. You’ve got everything you need to succeed and God has surrounded you with ample support, encouragement and valuable resources. Some resources are tangible and some are spiritual, mental and emotional. You are supported just like a well trained athlete has a stable of coaches and accessories to aid them in their pursuit of victory.

God’s got a Dream Team. Are you going to be on it?

Train hard, Love Strong!
